Thanks, Rebecca. I think it's funny that the Missoulian sent two reporters (Nickell and Kelly) to review a show -- obviously it would be the same show -- that just went down six months ago. I think it's funny that Nickell called it a rock concert (ha) and that Jamie Kelly couldn't directly say, in a family newspaper, what he apparently really wanted to say: that these big touring shows (from Brad Paisley to Elton John) are basically (however predictably enjoyable they may be for the masses) hit-and-run jobs ("staged, deliberate, rehearsed, repetitive").

When I was a junior at UM, I took a class in environmental history from Dan Flores. Towards the end of the semester I wrote a paper that was a scathing review of The Monkey Wrench Gang. At some point during the writing process I convinced myself I didn't have the experience or gravitas it takes to tear apart Edward Abbey. I backed off, ending my assignment with a lame, "...but it's a good book, regardless."

Dan gave me a B. Under the grade he wrote, "This could have been an A paper, but you chickened out at the end. Too bad."

Jamie, you get a B.
